This was a highlight of last year’s rides. You haven’t really lived until you’ve ridden in Washington state, with pastoral views and car-free country roads. Expect rolling hills and extended time in the saddle. This is not a ride for beginners. Riders should be self-sufficient and prepared for thirst, hunger, flats, and all other acts of God or Satan. This is my 2nd foray into this part of the world; expect possible wayfinding issues. Lunch will be at the 57 km mark, at the Haggen’s or Pizzazza in Fairhaven. Credit goes to Rocket Rob for the route.

Route: click here, terrain is mostly paved.

Meet:8AM at Peace Arch Park parking lot, take Beach Ave exit, just before the border crossing.

Leader: RSVP Teresa if you plan to come

Bring: Nexus or passport, travel insurance, USD for lunch, extra water bottles and snacks because you’ll need them.

NB: This ride is open to members only.

7 riders joined me on this sun-splashed ride through Whatcom County’s country and urban roads. They put up with more gravel once again, the price to pay for big water views on a boardwalk jutting out into the sea and a shortcut through a park. Lunch was Mexican, where large portions fueled us for the long ride home. Their burritos can be used to draft-proof your doors. Dessert was ice cream in Blaine, well-deserved after a long ride.

    Welcome back, Grant!

    Enjoy the photos:
