Friday June 21- Night Rider- Leisure
Update June 17: It’s now a leisure ride!
Celebrate the summer solstice and go on a night ride. No, not with David Hasselhoff, though the show Knight Rider foreshadowed the self-driving car and the smart watch with which to summons it. Don’t look directly into his eyes! Many try but few escape the grip of the Hoff’s swarthy stare. Your reward is a late dinner of half-price burgers at Bin4. It’ll go perfectly with your potato chip diet. BRING YOUR LIGHTS.
Approximate Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30294303. Route back will be along Heather or Arbutus greenway
Meet: 7pm at Riley Park Fieldhouse located at Quebec and 32nd Ave
RSVP: Teresa
At Teresa’s request, I have agreed to lead this ride. I will discuss routing with all you come out, and will consider whether we should instead ride out to UBC to stop by the Reconciliation Totem Pole in observance of today being Aboriginal Peoples Day. But you can still dress up as David Hasselhoff, if that is your thing!
Fast (for me) ride out to Iona, followed by a yummy burger at the Bin Burger on Granvile. Mine
was very tasty and even healthy!
The din at the bin was rather loud, and talking-or rather listening, was a bit of challenge.
Thanks, Teresa, for an enjoyable ride and for waiting for me; very kind. Thanks to fellow cyclists as well. The ride home in cool air with little traffic, was delightful.
Thanks to the 7 riders who joined me for this night ride and were not repelled by the Hoff. Apologies to Will, who had organized a different ride which I then hijacked, because I hadn’t read the website. Nevertheless, it was a really nice evening for riding. Agree with Sharon: next time I do this ride will be on a warmer evening when we can sit outside.
The lighting was amazing for photos, but I’ll let you decide: https://photos.app.goo.gl/r8Gju2rqXZXjLFvD7
