Sunday Nov. 3 – White Rock Pier (Medium)

The Ride: Last time I visited White Rock the old pier was still proudly standing but, alas, a wicked storm decided to take out a section of said structure, along with a number of moored sailboats of course. Since then, the pier has been rebuilt to the sound of millions of our dollars. So I thought: it would be fun organize a club ride to check out the new and improved White Rock pier.
The Route: We will start from the 22nd Street Skytrain station and follow a southerly route consisting of a mix of pavement and gravel (gravel cycling is so fashionable these days it seems). Once in White Rock we will first visit and marvel at the brand new expression of art and engineering, then head to one of the many fine dining establishments nearby for lunch. After both our eyes and stomachs had their fill, we will continue on our loopy ride to catch the King George station Skytrain back home. This ride is weather dependent; check here and WhatsApp for updates.
Meet: At 22nd Street Station at 1000am
Route: HERE
Distance: about 65 km.
Ride coordinator:Andrea C.
Yes, this was a really nice ride. We had 11 hardy cyclists ready to tackle any challenge thrown at them, including gravel, mud and flats. Lunch was excellent… we all ordered soup, two kinds of soup. The view of the pier was awesome. Next time we will actually go, on said pier.
Many thanks for leading, Andrea. Great ride through some beautiful trails next to Burns Bog- I would do them again just for the challenge!
There was one flat repair, but Yves showed us how it’s done.
