Saturday August 12 – Fairhaven – Medium Ride
This was a highlight of pre-pandemic rides. We have to make up for not having ridden in Washington state for so long, with its pastoral views and car-free country roads. Expect rolling hills and extended time in the saddle. This is not a ride for beginners. Riders should be self-sufficient and prepared for thirst, hunger, flats, and all other acts of God or Satan. It´s been a while, so expect possible wayfinding issues. Lunch will be at the 57 km mark, at the Haggen’s or Pizzazza in Fairhaven, up to you. Credit goes to Rocket Rob for the route.
Route: click here, terrain is mostly paved.
Meet:9AM at Peace Arch Park parking lot, take Beach Ave exit, just before the border crossing.
Leader: RSVP Teresa if you plan to come
Bring: Nexus or passport, travel insurance, USD for lunch, extra water bottles and snacks because you’ll need them.
There were 5 of us on this ride in what were ideal conditions. As usual, the variety in scenery and terrain did not disappoint. Kudos to Colin and David for riding to the start. Thanks to Cam for sweeping and Jay for great suggestions on improving the route and patiently waiting for us during lunch. Harris Ave Cafe had patio seating in the shade, fortunately. David, I hope you´re feeling better. Next time, we´ll have to try out the updated route (https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44064622).
