Sunday June 21 – Mission to Harrison Lake – Medium
Come join a ride from Mission to Harrison along the north side of the Fraser. The ride follows the Lougheed which has a nice wide shoulder the whole way. Leaving Mission, it’s a flat spin till Deroche, from there a gentle rolling terrain to Harrison with the exception of one hill (both ways). Usually on a Sunday the road is fairly quiet. We will stop at a pub in Harrison for lunch before returning. No, the photo does not depict the location of the lunch spot.
Meet: 10AM at the Dairy Queen in Mission, address 32753 Lougheed Highway, V2V 1A7
Distance: approx. 100k
Leader and RSVP: Colin by email if you plan to come. He accepts payment in beer.
Four riders went on this ride. Only two completed it. Everyone got to the pub and had lunch, but on the ride back to Mission, Kelly got dehydration distress midway, requiring Faye to stay with him and a car ride back to the start point. Once there, DQ milkshakes were had to comfort the infirm.
Hopefully, this does not deter people from testing themselves on long rides nor discourage others to lead such rides. They can be fun if the right precautions are taken (lots of water and food for fuel). Many thanks to Colin for leading, no small task considering the length of the ride.
