Sunday August 21 – Iona Leisure Ride
A classic leisure ride, up the Arbutus Green Way and over the Skytrain bridge, to a familiar destination – Iona Beach. Flat, smooth pavement to ease the way and a beautiful seascape to view at our destination. Leisure ride with pace 15-20km/h; no one dropped. Bring the tools and parts you need to keep rolling. We will stop at Ikura on the way back for lunch. Check here for updates, the morning of the ride.
RSVP: email to Teresa
Meet: At Terra Breads at the Olympic Village at 9:00 AM.
Route: about 35km (with the route here)
Thirteen of us enjoyed this perennial favourite out past the airport, where planespotting from the comfort of your saddle is unavoidable and encouraged. Conditions were refreshingly cool for August. There was even a tailwind westbound and minimal headwind going back. Next ride promises to be downhill both ways and include unicorns and rainbows. A few of us had lunch at Ikura, where food was discussed, the 2nd favourite topic after cycling. Thanks to Colin, whose route was borrowed for this day.
For those wanting pics, check out Paula’s extensive photo collection of the ride on Whatsapp. Thanks Paula!
