Saturday September 3 – Aldergrove Mead Tasting – Meadium

If you’re curious like me about what local farms are producing, join me on this ride into the rural hinterlands. Find out what happens when two edible favourites, honey and booze, join forces on this ride. The answer? Mead! Campbell’s Gold Honey Farm offers mead tastings and treats to set you abuzz. You might even come home with a bottle or six. The farm has a sunflower display and picnic areas for self catering that may be worth checking out. If not, lunch in Aldergrove proper after the tasting is an option. There are some climbs, but pacing will be easy (low to mid 20’s km/hr on flats) and noone will be dropped.
Bring a bike in working order, some tools for simple repairs and enough water to get you through the day. $5 for tasting, extra for lunch.

Meet: 9AM at King George Skytrain, end of the Expo Line

Six of us rode around Surrey, Langley and Aldergrove on this variation of last year’s Aldergrove ride. The goats grazing on the Wildflower Greenway was a surprise, but kept to the farm theme, as we would later encounter horses, cows, bees, and sunflowers. Of course, we did try the mead, and noone fell over. Some even brought a bottle home. I clocked in at over 110km by the time I got home, so was in dire need of rest.
