Monday July 1: Happy Canada Day Explorer (Leisure)

The Ride: Celebrate Canada Day exploring the mouth of British Columbia’s greatest river named after Simon Fraser who, before Canada became a country, charted much of what is now British Columbia and later Canada. Luckily for us, much of the river shores are easily accessible by cyclists and alike. The route starts at the Olympic Village, goes to the Central Park, down Byrne Creek Ravine Park and on to the shores of the Fraser river. Then continue westwards to our riverside picnic stop at Deering Island Park. Before, we’ll make a quick Safeway stop for those who need it. After lunch, we will ride through the Pacific Spirit Park trails, from which the route will continue and officially end at Arbutus Coffee in Kits. A few comfort breaks are planned along the away. N.B.: A good portion of this route consists of gravel trails, ergo, bring a suitable bike and related paraphernalia.
