Combat Covid 15, the average weight gained in isolation, by turning off your Netflix and putting away the baking. This hybrid ride is actually comprised of 2, 2 rides in 1. The first leaves from Olympic Village and leisurely goes to Ambleside Park, where a variety of cafes and restaurants await. From Ambleside, I proceed onto Cypress Mountain, the 2nd ride.  Note: I will not be leading you back to Vancouver from Ambleside, so be prepared to navigate your return.

Those who do climb Cypress will be treated to a slow climb with big views- definitely a marathon, not a sprint. You’ll need to be self sufficient with your own tools and the ability to use them. I recommend a jacket and full finger gloves for the chilly descent.

In all cases, physical distancing applies. No sharing of tools or food is encouraged. Bring a bike in good working order.

Thanks to the 4 riders who joined me for Ride 1 and the 5 riders who came out for ride 2. Who would’ve known so many people would enjoy climbing Cypress, aka. road to first world suffering. Colin had a mechanical issue, but Dorothy swooped in to replace the broken bike, thereby saving the day. He caught up with us shortly after we arrived at the top, which must have been a beast of a catch-up ride. We ended the ride in Ambleside, where the wind was pretty strong, and some kite-boarders showed off their stuff. Thanks for waiting in the cold, everyone, while a few of us got coffees.

A big welcome to new riders Lisa and Victor.

    Enjoy the photos:
