Saturday October 12- Turkey Ride – Medium
It´s Thanksgiving weekend-let´s go gnaw on a turkey leg or two. Vegetarians are welcome as the lunch destination has meat-free options. Besides food, the perennial obsession of cyclists, highlights include the bright fall colours, pastoral beauty of Telegraph Trail and the fun descents. Lunch will be at JD Farms. If people are open to it, we can also stop at Kraus Berry Farm for dessert, as it’s on the way. We return via the swooping descent across the Port Mann bridge into Coquitlam, where the ride ends at Braid Skytrain. NB: the start and end points are not the same! Click on the route link for details. Ride is weather dependent. Bring a reliable bike, and tools and how to use them.
Meet: 9AM King George Skytrain station outside the east exit
Route: about 78km, as seen here
RSVP: Teresa
Great ride today!
Thanks Teresa for taking us on great adventure today.
Fun times and nice to meet some new to me riders.
5 other riders joined me on this suburban foray under gray skies. There were no mechanical issues so it was puzzling to arrive home just before dinner time. Well, we did have 2nd lunch at Kraus Berry farm where some riders indulged in sweet treats after a turkey-themed lunch. Next time, I’ll try to time the ride when strawberries are in season. Nice to see old friends Jay and Richard return. Welcome back to the club!

Big apologies to the riders who waited and waited for me this morning. I had the wrong start time in mind and showed up much later than the posted start time. Yes, the dementia police should have hauled me away. Apart from near-mutiny, and a mechanical issue that sent one rider home, the ride went smoothly. Lunch was at JD and dessert was at Krause, both hopping with activity from the long weekend crowds. The weather became positively beachy, which meant stripping down as much as possible without the cops being called. Kudos to David for riding to and from the Skytrain stations. The rest of us enjoyed training home.
